Nothing Matters (And That’s a Good Thing)

Ecclesiates 1:1-1:11

What the Teacher Observes

Ecclesiastes opens without softening the truth. Life moves quickly. Effort fades. Achievements don’t stay shiny for long. Nothing here is permanent.

Why It Feels Heavy

We spend so much energy trying to make things last — seasons, success, productivity, approval. When they don’t, it can feel discouraging or even frightening.

Where God Restores Meaning

The Teacher isn’t mocking life; he’s removing false expectations. When we stop asking temporary things to give eternal fulfillment, we’re freed to enjoy them for what they are — gifts, not gods.

Gentle Practice

Today, notice one thing you’ve been trying to “hold onto.”

Loosen your grip.

Prayer

Dear Father God, thank You for the honesty of Your Word. Help release me from chasing what cannot satisfy, and teach me to enjoy what you give. Amen.
