Pleasure Isn’t the Problem

Ecclesiastes 2:1

“Come now, I will test you with pleasure to find out what is good.”

Pleasure itself is not evil. The Teacher explores joy, laughter, and enjoyment — only to discover they cannot carry the weight of meaning alone.

We either chase pleasure endlessly or feel guilty for enjoying life at all. Both extremes leave us unsatisfied.

God gives pleasure as a gift, not a foundation. When joy flows from Him instead of replacing Him, it becomes light instead of empty.

Enjoy one simple pleasure today — slowly, gratefully, without guilt.

God, thank You for the joy You place in ordinary moments. Teach me to receive pleasure as a gift, not a pursuit. Amen.
